Title: 전 미친년이 아닌데요

Summary

The story follows Gi Ara, a 20-year-old woman who is reborn and tasked with becoming an actress. She learns that filling out her filmography will unlock perks and clues. Ara uses these perks to navigate her way through the acting world, successfully landing roles and discovering hidden secrets. Her journey involves mastering various acting techniques, overcoming challenges, and, ultimately, revealing deeper mysteries.

Personal Review

System Mechanism

In the beginning, the protagonist is given a perk that allows her to experience the emotions and sensations of a character she is portraying. This enables her to perform method acting and pass auditions. Some readers may not like the inclusion of a “system” that grants these abilities, but it serves a practical purpose: unlocking more information as she progresses through her acting career. While the system could feel artificial at times, it acts as a reasonable device to move the plot forward and reveal hidden secrets about the protagonist’s past.

The Psychopath Misunderstanding

During an audition, Ara is asked to perform as a psychopath, and she uses her shared sensations to portray the role of the Joker. She improvises, touching her face in front of a mirror and making dramatic facial expressions. The casting agents, already puzzled by her performance, mistakenly believe she is a real psychopath. This misunderstanding continues throughout the audition process, adding some humor as the staff becomes more cautious of her, unsure whether her “psychopath” persona is real.

TS Element

Some readers may have issues with the TS aspect, but this element is quite common on the platform where the novel is published (Nobelpia). The platform’s audience is predominantly male, and many of the stories in this genre feature a male protagonist turned female. The inclusion of the TS element is therefore a strategic choice, catering to the preferences of the platform’s audience.

Evaluation

  • Originality: ★★☆☆☆
While there are several interesting elements like the TS and system, they aren’t particularly unique compared to other works in the genre. The story doesn’t stand out in terms of innovative concepts.
  • Engagement: ★★★★☆
The novel has a good level of engagement, particularly for those who enjoy actor-focused stories. The in-story acting challenges and the protagonist’s growth keep things interesting. However, too much emphasis is placed on reactions from other characters (like articles or comments) which sometimes detracts from the main plot.
  • Accessibility: ★★★★☆
The themes of acting, the system mechanic, and the TS element are all popular in online webnovels, which makes this work accessible to a wide audience. For readers unfamiliar with the TS genre, this may be a hurdle, but the author’s choice feels reasonable within the context of the platform.
  • Writing Style: ★★★☆☆
The writing is easy to follow, and the cliffhangers at the end of chapters are well-crafted, ensuring readers are curious about the next chapter. However, the frequent emphasis on public reactions (like media coverage or articles) feels excessive and slightly detracts from the narrative flow.
  • Consistency: ★★★★☆
The author has maintained a consistent publishing schedule, releasing chapters daily since the first episode on October 29, 2024, which is impressive. The pacing of the plot is also steady, with each chapter adding new layers to the story.

Overall Impression

I’m Not a Crazy Woman uses popular and accessible themes like acting, the system mechanic, and the TS element to draw readers in. While it doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking in terms of originality, it does a good job of keeping readers engaged with its entertaining premise and consistent updates. For fans of the genre, especially those who enjoy actor-focused narratives, this novel will likely be enjoyable. While it hasn’t accumulated enough chapters for a comprehensive review, based on the current chapters, I can confidently say that I’ll be looking forward to the next one.
