Title: 소환수를 얻었으니 탑 등반합니다

Summary

The protagonist lives with a younger sibling who uses a wheelchair due to a disability. Three years ago, the protagonist awakened a special ability called “Random Summon,” which they use daily in hopes of acquiring an elixir to heal their sibling’s legs. Unfortunately, only miscellaneous items are summoned, and no summon creatures appear. The protagonist also possesses a summoner skill called “Infinite Love,” which prevents them from working as a hunter. To support their sibling, they take on a high-paying part-time job collecting mana stones and enter a gate. While mining mana stones, a giant wolf appears, and the protagonist summons Veronica through their Random Summon ability, kicking off the story.

Personal Review

Protagonist’s Personality

Following the success of “How a Real Man Conquers the Tower” on Munpia, many tower-climbing novels now feature protagonists with the “Real Man” personality—stoic, overly cautious, and frustrating to readers. While initially seeming like this type of character due to moments of hesitation and fear, the protagonist of this novel is different. They actively engage in the world outside, taking on part-time jobs and clearing gates. Through these actions, the protagonist demonstrates a more relatable and balanced personality compared to the stereotypical “Real Man” leads.

Summoned Creatures

The concept of summoning creatures to aid a weak protagonist is a common theme in tower-climbing novels. To make hunter activities and tower climbing possible, these summoned creatures need to be exceptionally powerful. Catering to a male audience, many novels feature attractive female summon creatures who excel in looks, abilities, and combat skills, alongside some adorable summons for variety. This novel follows this trend, with most of its plot unfolding through interactions between the protagonist and their summons. While over-reliance on these interactions can make the story feel monotonous, the varied characteristics of the summons add a layer of everyday charm.

Evaluation

Originality: ★★☆☆☆

The novel follows a typical tower-climbing formula, with a protagonist supporting a sick family member and relying on strong summons.

Immersion: ★★★☆☆

It’s an easy read without significant flaws. Fans of tower-climbing novels will find it engaging, while others may find it mildly entertaining.

Popular Appeal: ★★★☆☆

Using trendy themes like tower climbing, summoning, and summoned creatures, the novel appeals to a broad audience familiar with these genres.

Writing Quality: ★★★☆☆

The prose is smooth, with no noticeable typos or awkward sentences. However, it lacks the excitement to leave readers eager for the next chapter.

Consistency: ★★☆☆☆

Despite a consistent release schedule after its debut on August 22, 2024, the author struggled to maintain regular updates after mid-October.

Overall Assessment

This novel is a standard tower-climbing story that avoids the frustrations of “Real Man” protagonists. While it doesn’t introduce significant innovations, removing the “Real Man” personality makes it more enjoyable than many similar stories. However, it lacks standout elements and remains an average read. Due to inconsistent updates, it’s recommended to read in sections rather than following it in real-time.

Average Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2.6/5)
