Title: 대한제일검의 게임 스트리밍

■ Setting and Plot ■

Kim Geomseong, once hailed as the “Supreme Swordmaster of Korea,” was a legendary figure who consistently placed first in the World Kendo Championships.

Whenever he participated in a competition, people would assume the winner was already decided. His home was filled with trophies to the point of overflowing.

However, with the advent of virtual reality gaming, public interest shifted from real-world sports to virtual reality. For some reason, Kim Geomseong couldn’t synchronize with a virtual reality capsule. Despite being the world’s number-one kendo master, he was left behind, reduced to scraping by on instant noodles.

One day, at the urging of his younger sister, who worked at a major design corporation, he decided to give it one last shot with the latest capsule model. When the synchronization finally succeeded, Kim Geomseong began his journey as a virtual reality streamer, leveraging his unmatched kendo skills to dominate the gaming world.

■ Personal Rating ■
★★★☆☆ (5/10)

  • “Just another streaming story with a swordsmanship theme.”

■ Personal Review ■

This novel falls squarely into the typical streamer-BJ (broadcast jockey) genre.
The protagonist, once a kendo master in real life, grows to prominence as a virtual reality game streamer.

The storyline and progression are painfully predictable, as are the audience reactions within the novel.

The pattern always follows this trajectory:

  • Start with an unpopular niche game and gradually gain fame.
  • Transition into mainstream games and collaborate with other streamers.
  • Repeated audience comments like:
    • “Sniff, sniff, came here to see a newbie get wrecked.”
    • “Wait, did they just one-shot the boss on their first try? LOL.”
    • “A monster newbie has appeared!!!!”
    • “Yep, I’m here to watch the monster newbie again today!!”
    • “What? That’s all you have to do? Just like that?”
    • “A BJ trolling viewers with pure physical skill? Boom-boom!”

Over time, the lack of excitement and the repetitive nature of the in-story audience comments left me disinterested.
Looking through KakaoPage comments from other readers, it seems I wasn’t the only one who felt this way.
