Personal Review

The protagonist wakes up in a strange yet familiar city. At first, he wonders, “Was I kidnapped?” As he looks around, he notices humanoid creatures faster than cars and police cars chasing them. A villain on a large screen is releasing explosions from their hands. The protagonist soon realizes that he has been transported to the world of a superhero story.

However, despite being in this new world, the protagonist is powerless, unable to use any superpowers. He finds himself at the bottom of the social ladder, unsure of how to survive. In a moment of despair, a small girl speaks to him and brings him to her mansion. There, by chance, the protagonist fixes a broken robot, leading to an unexpected reaction.

1. Main Character

The protagonist comes from Earth, but not from the present-day Earth we know. Instead, he’s from a future Earth where technology has advanced so much that it can control space and time. This allows him to solve problems with technology from his world, making him an overpowered (Munchkin) character. Most problems in the new world are resolved effortlessly using the advanced science and technology from his Earth.

2. Characters

Most of the female characters in the story have personal struggles, which the protagonist solves easily with his advanced knowledge. This leads many of these characters to develop feelings for him. While not all of them fall for him, the ease with which the protagonist solves their problems feels a bit too convenient, making the plot feel somewhat unrealistic and lacking in depth.

3. Episode Development

Though the protagonist is a scientist, the process of inventing or creating new technologies is often skipped over. Instead, the story emphasizes the results and the fun that comes from those inventions. The narrative focuses more on quick, light entertainment rather than solid world-building or plot development. It’s a story with fast-paced and easy-to-digest fun, rather than a deep or coherent universe.

4. Genre Features

The world combines elements of superpowers, a hero society, and various species and occupations. Although the main characters belong to an evil organization, they are portrayed as one of the most righteous groups in the world. The focus is less on a central plot or goal, and more on the protagonist’s daily life and his Munchkin-like ability to solve everything easily.

5. Readability

The content is simple and lighthearted, with a lot of comedic elements. The story’s tone is very casual, making it easy to read without much effort. However, for readers who prefer more structured plots and deep world-building, the lack of a well-developed narrative and the convenience of solutions might diminish their enjoyment.

Final Review

The protagonist is like a graduate student who can produce anything when asked, with extraordinary technical prowess. The story focuses on light, easy entertainment with lots of humor, where the protagonist effortlessly resolves every problem in a “Munchkin-style” way. If you enjoy reading about a superhero scientist who solves all problems with his advanced knowledge, mixed with comedy and daily life moments, this is a great fit for you.

Recommendation

This is a great read for those who prefer lighthearted, easygoing stories with lots of comedic relief. If you enjoy Munchkin-type heroes solving problems effortlessly, this novel will be enjoyable. However, if you are looking for a story with deep world-building or a strong narrative, this may not be the right fit for you.

Rating Summary: The Evil Scientist is Too Competent is a humorous, light novel with a highly capable protagonist who can solve anything with his scientific skills. It is a casual, comedic read with an overpowered lead and an easy-to-read structure.
